It appears that Perry kits are hard to come by.If you happen to find one AB could you post on this topic, as i am keen to try brewing one also!

OK - so still trying to find a kit for Perry without any joy yet - so starting to think laterally

What if I was to use a Pear wine Kit (again if 1 exists) and swop the yeast for either a Cider yeast or an Ale yeast ??

has anyone tried anything similar and if so what were the results ??

I love cider and I've always wanted to try brewing a Perry. Pear juice (in either concentrate or pressed - like apple is sold) seems to be unobtainable in the UK. I hope someone can prove me wrong on here! :)

The only 'Pear based product' I've found recently contained added sugar and '50% fruit pulp' with no preservatives.
I didn't have any real high expections but I gave it a go (with added water - not at the full 'smoothie' solution that it came in!) in a 1 gallon experimental batch.
It never fermented properly and I ditched it after a few weeks.:(

Sorry there are no perry kits available on the homebrew market. Also there are no pear wine kits either.

Apart from making your own using real pears, if you can find unpasteurised pear juice you can ferment that. Don't add water use only juice, check the SG is right for the alcohol content you require, add some sugar if not and then use a cider yeast. This should give you a reasonable approximation of perry.
