My Coopers Australian Lager

Post by Monkeybrew » Sat Apr 16, 2011 9:02 pm

I'm not really sure where to post pic's.

This is my Coopers Aussie Lager at 8 weeks bottled.

Made with 500g of light spray malt & 500g of dextrose.

Came in around 5% ABV :)

I've got to be honest, it tasted pretty at 4 weeks old :)

It's quite lively, as you can see from the head!

I used the kit yeast and it took off like a rocket!

I think I'm right in saying that its an ale yeast.

Yes, it's an ale yeast. I'm planning on doing one of these using a "clean" ale yeast Nottingham, which gives you less of a fruity taste.

That's an impressive head (fnarr..) How did you prime your lager?

That looks great

What temperature did you ferment it at, and, how did you prime it?

Cheers!

I fermented it in February, so it was no more than 19-20C.

I primed with brewing sugar that I dissolved in some boiled water, and then added this to my 25L bottling FV before syphoning the wort in.

I used whatever amount that Coopers suggested, can't remember how much that was though

It's certainty a great drink if I do say so myself.

Great to hear. I used 500g spraymalt and 500g BKE1 in my brew, and also used a shorter brewlength of 21 litres. I used this recipe for Green Neck Lager but used the Coopers OS instead of the Euro lager kit. Can't wait to try it now.

I made the same with 1kg spraymalt (light) and it was a belter. Must do another.

Note to self: Self, do another.

Cheers. Yeah looks like it's finished, as I brewed to 21 litres.
