keeping it in the bin
keeping it in the bin
I have a Coopers Cerveza which is ready to bottle for 2nd fermentation.Would I be okay to transfer it to another Fv and add 85g of brewing sugar, keeping a brew belt on for another 7 days, rather than bottle it and try to find somewhere in the house to store the bottles to keep warm? The idea then would be after this time to then bottle and store them in the shed
Re: keeping it in the bin
This is my first post, been reading for a while though and brewing for longer.
I don't think this would work - the idea of keeping it in the warm for a week is to produce CO2, which you will then lose completely as it will escape from the secondary FV. When you transfer to bottles you may get some more gas, but the beer will end up flat in your bottles.
If it was me, I would bottle and keep somewhere in the house for a week or so - I usually cover them with a towel or a blanket to keep them in the dark - then put them somewhere cold to absorb the CO2. Then you should have nice fizzy lager on opening.
By the way, 85g sounds too little for lager - assuming you have brewed to 23l? 150g sounds more like it.
Cheers.

All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. ~ Homer J Simpson
