Recent Kit Success

Post by Russ » Sun Apr 15, 2007 7:58 am

Just thaught I'd share a bit of my recent success with you.

Having had problems with the Muntons kits I decided to have a go with Brupaks.

I've now finished 3 on the trot. (Pride of Yorkshire Bavarian Wheat Beer, Brewers Choice Best Bitter and Pride of Yorkshire IPA) All fermented out without a hitch down to there suggested FG :)

I have reviewed my brewing method and used it on all three kits. I add half a crushed campden tablet to the water. Aerate for 5 mins with a paint stirrer and cordless drill and added yeat nutrient. I must say I noticed the fermentation to be much more rapid and vigorous on these last 3 kits than my previous Muntons attempts (and the last Muntons kit I did I adopted a similar method).

I have a Wherry in the cupboard so going to do this soon using the same method. Will see how it goes, going to use Safeale 04 for this. I'll possibly recycle the kit yeast in a TC. (My first in demijohn as we speak 8) )

BTW just going to Keg the Brewers Choice IPA this morning. I've struggled to get this to drop bright (I burst one of the tea bags when boiling  so that possibly didnt help). I added Isinglass from H+G and wow! 24 hours later crystal clear beer 8) . Had a sneaky taster, tastes and looks very similar to Uley Breweries Pigs Ear to me, a bonus as its one of my favorites! :D

I must say Cheers guys (paticularly to Jim and Daab) for a great forum!. Think I'd have given up by now if you wern't here.
