Bottling Connumdrum

I'm being a total Noob here, sorry. I was wondering about the best way to syphon from the big PET bottle to smaller glass bottles without contaminating or aerating the beer. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume that you mean the 5 litre PET bottles (water bottles you can get from supermarket)?

Unless you have a tap fitted, the only way I can think of would be to syphon like you normally would.

If the bottle isn't already in use, you may want to consider fitting a tap to it.

I'm nervous about using the 5L PET water bottles I have from Sainsbury's in case they blow up. Having said that, it would enable me to run a second brew now (I only have one pressure barrel)

Don't worry, PET bottle are good at over 100psi. I don't think you will blow 1 up with home brew, unless you put about a ton of suger with it.

Check this chart out I found when I was worred about bottles.

If it is plastic and contains a fizzy drink then it is a PET bottle. You can always double check by looking at the bottom where there will be a symbol (iirc it is a triangle) with the letters P.E.T.
