Hi all
I was wondering if I could tap into your vast collective brewing knowledge once again please?
Last Sunday I made up a Brupaks Fixby Gold kit with 20 litres of water giving it an original gravity of 1045/1046. The beer level in the fermenter is currently at approximately 23 litres. The gravity is currently measuring 1016 which is nowhere near the gravity I'd expect for a Brupaks kit. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but the previous two Brupaks kits (IPA and Almondsbury Old) fermented much faster than this.
When brewing I ensured that the wort was aerated and that it was below 25C before pitching the yeast. I pre started the yeast in diluted wort at about 20C it showed all the usual signs of yeasty activity ie the same as my other three kits!
I have already tried gently rousing the yeast and adding half a packet of safale s04 (belt and braces) which dropped the gravity a couple of points in 24 hours.
Is this normal for fixby gold? Or have I done something wrong?
Edit:: I have read the following thread on Fixby Gold but am still worried http://jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopi ... fixby+gold
Is there a rabbit off with my Fixby Gold?
