Co2 bulbs

Post by meikle » Wed Jul 04, 2007 9:51 pm

Hi,
I'm new to the Forum & Brewing, my first atempt at brewing went I think quite well so have started another.
I've since bought a Presure Barrel & was wondering what the Co2 bulbs do & how do i use them.
Thanks
Colin

Welcome aboard, Colin!

The CO2 bulbs push your beer out of the tap once there's not enough natural pressure to do so.

When the beer stops flowing so easily, discharge one into the keg and you'll be well away.

they propel the beer out of the barrel and maintain a head of CO2 above the beer so that it doesn't go off.

what does the metal bit in the middle of you barrel lid look like? does it have a weird looking plastic fixture attached to it?

You win, i was merely drinking tea.

I managed to get more on my face than in it, i think.

I think my learned colleague was talking about the lid of your barrel, Colin.
It should have a metal fixture on the top which the holder screws into. Unless the holder kit comes with a new lid for your keg, you're not going to be able to use the bulbs.

Yes sorry, it has a metal threaded parta around 3/4" & a release valve next to it.
