Knocked up this Woodfordes Wherry kit for the first time, it fermented out no problem reaching the target FG, transferrend it to my keg and its now been in there for 6 weeks.
Trouble is it has this funny taste which is like fresh hops (unboiled). Its unlike anything i've ever tasted in a beer, is this normal? Is it supposed to taste like this? I quite like my hoppy beers but as I said this just has a smell/taste like fresh unboiled hops.
PS I've not actually eaten fresh hops but the smell when you open up a foil pack of them is what the taste reminds me of if you know what I mean.
PPS I made up the kit exactly as is, not adjusting anything or adding any extras.

Have you ever had genuine draft Wherry at all?
It's not as drastically grassy as you describe, but it is a hoppy beer.
The official notes say: "Fresh and zesty with crisp floral flavours. A background of sweet malt and a hoppy ‘grapefruit’ bitter finish characterises this champion bitter."
I don't find it particularly hoppy or zesty compared to this summer's rash of 'golden' ales, but it's certainly got plenty of hops if you aren't particularly used to them.
I added an ounce of First Gold to my Wherry, so it was even hoppier than the draft original.
If it tastes 'right' just hoppy and you like it, I shouldn't worry. Is it clear? My Wherry dropped very clear in the end and as my first kit I found this pretty encouraging.
