HAHHAAHHA !

Indeed, well, I'm willing to give it a go.....

Shall we try and come up with some interesting additives

( anyone suggesting anything other than a proper ( i.e drinkable ) additive will be reported to the beer police .

Does it have any info on the can or is it a complete "unknown"? I would definately add hops (any would help looking at the can) and some DME.

I brewed from a very cheap kit (Geordie Mild), and used beer kit enhancer. It's dreadful.

I brewed from a quite cheap kit (John Bull Bitter), used DME and dry hopped, and it's absolutely brilliant.

So you CAN get good results without a premium kit.

The Vina Bargain Brew kits are from the same place as the John Bull kits, so I don't think they're a complete disaster... but the lager I made did look like it contained quite a bit of barley sugar - the extract was a bit runny.

I made it up to 16 litres, with an according adjustment in fermentables, which seemed like a good idea at the time. It smelled okay prior to bottling, but I haven't tackled supping it yet... 8-[

I got one given to me. Its no worse than Youngs or Geordie type kits if you use 1kg if spray malt and a few dried hops.
cheers

Cheers DaaB, will do. Will just have to wait for the weather to 'improve'!

Well ! Its arrived !! ( can barely contain my jubilation... )

Anyhow, its made by vina ( and was actually MORE expensive than the actual Vina branded stuff ! :?: )

The ingredients read as follows..

Barley Syrup, Barley Malt extract, Malt Extract, Hop Extract and a packet of yeast with "Brewing Yeast " 147 printed on it.

Will have to wait until Friday for me to start it ( need to go and buy ANOTHER fermenter. )

[SARCASM]My only real " problem " with it so far is that my tin has a black plastic top instead of a yellow one[/SARCASM]

and to think Im delaying starting a coopers dark ale for this. 8)
