Hi
I have made a Wherry kit and split it into 2 10ltr Jerry cans with a tap and tyre valve fitted to each one as done elsewhere on the forum.
I added 25g of priming sugar and left for a couple of weeks to mature.
I have finished the first Jerry can with great results, nice carbonation, taste etc... but I've just stated on the second Jerry can and the beer has a straw like metallic taste. Both jerry cans were cleaned with starsan previous to filling them, so I am confused as to why one could have an infection if it is that and not the other.
Anyone had this kind of problem before or is it something else that is wrong with the beer?
cheers
Lindsay
Wherry taste's funny
Re: Wherry taste's funny
Oh. You should really be using food grade plastic containers. Sounds like there was a reaction with the metal.
Re: Wherry taste's funny
Wherry I have found does change a lot during maturation and I have had this metallic taste but it did disappear a few days later.

Hi
The Jerry cans are food grade as far as I'm aware because they are water containers and have been used successfully by others on the forum. check out The Jerry Keg is Born! - Cheap Pressure Keg Option in brewing equipment by Floydmeddler.
They have worked out great otherwise.
I may just have been unlucky or as anthonyuk says wait a while and check it again, which I will do.
cheers
