So the other week I popped into the H+G and picked up a Still Spirits Liqueur pack. Anyone else done it? It's the tripple distilled turbo one which makes 5 gallons of flavourless 14% alcopop. This brews in 7 to 10 days and is the stuff that should then be passed through a still to make 7 litres of 40% which you can then flavour with little bottles of "Bells" or whatever. As I don't have a still (if I did I doubt I would be around to type this) i'm just going to stop at the 14% and make tall drinks for our (late) summer.
Anyway, if anyone wants to make one of these a word of caution - it's a two pack affair, one with yeast the other with finings. The one with yeast also has a pack of carbon liquid solution which stains like ink. My spoon is pitted black now. Nice.
The SG was a huge 1098 although this was measured after I had added the yeast/carbon so I guess it would be lower. I now have a fermenter with a pitch black liquid in it.
Once I get the chance I will start my coopers bitter.
BTW anyone tried a beer called "hops". It uses Tetenang hops and tasted realy nice, almost lager like especially if I had chilled it. If I didn't know any better I would have said it had Saaz hops in it.
Anywho, i'll let y'all know how the "black pop" comes along.
Next brew...is for the missus.
