Wilkos Hoppy Hoppy Hoppy Hoppy Copper!

Post by WalesAles » Thu Feb 27, 2014 9:12 pm

Hello Everyone! Only Me!
As Tazzymutt said earlier, this kit needs more hops! What have I done?

250gr Amber Malt, 250gr Crystal Malt, 29gr Pacific Gem Hops (empty the bag), All in 4Lts water, Boil 5 mins. Leave to cool overnight.
Today, make kit as normal, (normalish)!
25gr Ahtanum Hops 5 min boil in 2Lts water.
Empty can into FV
1Kg Medium Spraymalt
Strain all malts and hops into FV
OG @22deg 1042
Add Yeast @ 22deg
Put FV in water bath @ 22deg, cover with Duvet.
Leave for 1 week
Dry Hop with something for 7 days, then bottle, etc, etc!
11 different hops to play with! I won`t tell you what they are but if I get more suggestions on a certain type, that is what I will Dry Hop with! :D

Only Me!
Kegged this today. 80gr sugar batch prime.
FG 1010.
Taste and smell Bloody Lovely Mun!
Thanks for the advice Monkey, perhaps I shouldn`t bugger about so much trying to be clever!
Will report back in a month, if there`s any left!

I put this BK out the shed tonight. Pulled a sneaky half to check that the Keg is not losing gas like last time.
It`s holding pressure so far, New Washer in cap, PTFE tape around cap thread, little smear of vaseline on washer. [-o<
Good froth on the beer, still a bit cloudy, but tasting and smelling Bloody Lovely Mun! :D
Will report back in 2 weeks.

Bought this online. Couldn't refuse the 25% off. Going to experiment a little with it and brew it with 500g medium spray malt, 500g dark muscavado sugar and black treacle. Read reviews it was a little pale and bland so hopefully this will add a bit of flavour to it and improve it in the long run.

Nearly there on clarity but I`m not posting a pic yet for fear of ridicule and much hilarity off the JBK ridicule and hilarity makers! :D :D

Here we are then Boyos,
6 weeks in the barrel and this is the Beautifully Clear, Fantastic Tasting / Aromatically Rewarding Beer that is
`Wilkos Hoppy Copper Bitter`.
I know that I messed around with this Kit `Big Time`, but what the Hell, it turned out rather nice actually, or as I say It`s Bloody Lovely Mun!
