Hello from Wilko's .....the return

Hi Everyone
many of you will recall Steve from Wilko's started a topic in Sept 2012 asking you all about our new range of Homebrew we had introduced back then. Steve has since been involved in other projects and I have been on this forum for some time too and got back into Homebrewing after many years absence about 12 months ago.
Let me introduce myself , I am Nigel and I work at Wilko's , not on the Homebrew range, but within another category in Supply. However I talk a lot with the Homebrew team and have agreed to pick up from where Steve left off by becoming a conduit hopefully for all on the forum to put your views and suggestions forward to the Homebrew team so that we can enhance your next visit to Wilko's both online and in store now and in the future when you are shopping our Homebrew range.

The team are currently looking at a further review later this year of the range and are looking for feedback from you all on what additional range you would like to see .
Do you want more kits? Beer/Wines etc etc ,
Bigger lines such as Kegs, presses, etc.,
Specialist stuff, anything else you feel we are not ranging ?

All feedback will be given back to the team so that at the upcoming range review we will consider your suggestions for range inclusion.
Meantime its been great to read a lot of the comments on here, we do appreciate your feedback about the Range.

I love to read about the great experimentations with Our own Brand Wilko Kits many of you try, that sometimes makes my mind boggle at whats added -- but in the main the results seem to be good .
When our Wilko Kits are brewed without additional tweaks, again we appear to have found a range the majority of you are happy with, so keep the feedback coming please
Please bear with me if I am not always prompt on my replies as I do have a role that demands a lot of my time , however being a keen brewer I drop into here quite frequently and will pick up any comments accordingly and hopefully respond back to you ASAP

Wheat spray malt back and maybe some hops?

Myself and four colleagues brew the Sweet Newkie Brown kit often, one of the better kits and we tend to get it when on offer usually ~8 quid. So for the Wilko branded kits, it's a winner.

Glad to hear you and your colleagues enjoy the Kits ,there's a lot of adapted recipes on here too using our Kit
I have tried astraight brew SNB myself and was very pleased with the result , took me back to my youth when we used to get Newcastle brown at the local Uni disco on Saturday nights lol
Note to self----- next brew of this I must do a comparison taste Original NB vs Wilkos SNB
meantime just sat supping a pint of Wherry and catching up on members range suggestions
Contemplating also which kits to buy in the sale tomorrow...

It would be great if you sold a lager yeast in the way you sell additional ale yeast. As none of your lager kits contain lager yeast it would give those who cool brew the opportunity to do so. I have brewed your kits with lager yeast (+a little extra hops) and have been pleased with the results.

Thanks for your feedback , I have picked up on this request from another topic ( 25% off sale topic ) and added it to the growing suggestions from forum members, really pleased to hear our Kits are hitting the mark, what hops did you add by the way ? Get your self down to your local store or online and get some more while they are reduced

Hi Wherryman,

How about larger tubs of Bruclens? More cost efficient to buy in a larger quantity.

Also, things that seem to be forgotten and you only realise as a brewday starts such as Irish Moss would be useful.

Also a larger (dried)yeast range, not sure what your purchasing policies are but brands such as fermentis, danstar, mangrove jack for example.

Cheap good quality spraymalt in all your stores

I used halletua hersbrucker for flavouring and saaz for aroma the first time and added northern brewer for bittering the second time and there after. I used Coopers pilsner yeast a couple of times and washed wyeast Danish lager once.

Have found the sweet newkie is a lot darker,and frankly tastes nothing like, a bottle of dog! Ok in its own right though.
Would like to see labels reflect that in most cases, using spray malt.will be an improvement on sugar.... so spraymalt had to be a more competitive price
+1 to both some hops,and the mangrove jacks yeast range
