I've finally got a s30 valve lid for my budget barrel. But im unsure how it works, i should have asked more questions at the shop. Does it have a pressure release valve like my normal lid as there doesn't seem to be one. I'm guessing it must be something to do with the elastic band type thing below the metal thread?
Anyone understanding these things
Thanks
Why I put this in the kits forum I dont know, sorry
pressure release valve?
The pressure relief 'valve' is the brown rubber band that sits on the top side (i.e. outside of the barrel) of the S30 valve. It covers a small hole that goes through the valve and opens onto the inside of the barrel. When the pressure in the barrel exceeds about 10PSI the excess gas simply lifts the rubber band and escapes.
If your barrel is a bit over-pressurised (lots of froth) for serving you can gently squeeze the rubber at the sides and pull it away a bit to let some gas out of the hole.
There is another thinner black rubber on the under side (i.e. inside the barrel) to stop any gas leaking back up through the centre of the valve where you inject the gas.
It is recommended that you replace the rubbers every now and again (say once a year) as with time they won't hold the pressure as well and may leak.
EDIT - Daab beat me to it - any with a funky digram too
