Don't worry about not having a hydrometer for your first brew from a kit. It is really not needed at the start.
What you need to do is just get it started... time is the killer with brewing. Yeast needs the time to work... and once started they last a long time in the primary fermenter before needing bottling. 2 to 3 weeks is expected. Start now and you'll be one week into it by next weekend.
