Sugarwash?

Post by ben9393 » Sun Sep 27, 2015 8:43 pm

I read up that you can make somewhere between 11 to 20% alcohol by adding about 7kg sugar to water and use turbo yeast. Would this work and could i add like basic flavourings like peach etc to make some alcohol beverages.

Apparently there is a further process you can do to this wash and add flavourings but I know nothing about this.

Here is something for making distilled water

Fermenting: Wilkos Cider
Drinking: Wilkos Hoppy Copper (very nice)

I might just add vodka flavourings and stuff before drinking or for whoever else is gonna drink it. I know i can do other things with it but dont feel like trying it.

I made this once and its honking!

It tastes of really sweet, rough alcohol and that's about it. Tokk me over a year to pour the last demi John down the drain - there was no improvement and I just don't want to get pissed on rank tramp juice ;-)

It makes alcohol, but its rough as a tramp's asshole fuzz. If you must....

1) use brewing sugar (dextrose) - NOT white sugar - and less of it.
2) don't be greedy - from what I've read, the most "drinkable" stuff comes from a product called "triple still" - it works slower, and only goes to about 14% - but the hooch is much cleaner
3) activated charcoal followed by turbo-claar are essential to make it drinkable.
4) consider further charcoal filtering before drinking or mixing flavouring - lot of folks run it through a Brita jug, and at the lower abvs it wont leach off flavours.

End of the day, you're better off buying one of the prohibition or alcotec kits- they come with everything you need AND the flavourings.

Sugar washes and turbo yeasts are designed for an "additional" processing step we dont talk about in these parts....;)

Is this all wandering in to the arena of " stuff that could blind you" ?

You'd be hard pressed to blind yourself with fermented brews- you'd have to drink gallons to build up toxic quantities of methanol. Blindness becomes an issue with certain "concentration" processes where you keep the same volume of methanol in a significantly smaller quantity of liquid.
