Wilko Wheat tweak ideas

Post by Manngold » Thu Jul 28, 2016 3:48 pm

Hi all.

Been a while, but picked up this two can kit on the cheap. Anyone got any recommendations for tweaks?

I have the following hops:

Citra
Topaz
Magnum
Saaz
Golding's

Thanks, not done a wheat beer before so helpl is welcome.

Well a hoppy wheat ipa could work. Does it say IBU on the tins? If not you may be able to assume the IBU is similar to the style IBU (google its ass). I would up the bitterness with magnum, use goldings late and dry hop with topaz (citra at a push) OR wang loads of saaz in late......

Manngold,
Why not try a Strawberry Wheat Beer?

I know mine was a Pale Ale, but I should think Strawberries and Wheat Beer should be good! :D

I have one in the FV that I dumped 5kg of frozen cherries into and some funky lambic yeast

Fermenting: Wilkos Cider
Drinking: Wilkos Hoppy Copper (very nice)

davew,
Did you take the stones out of the Cherries and put the Cherries in the blender?

No I just put them in after a week of primary fermentation now waiting 4 weeks until bottling along with White Labs wlp655 sour mix 1.

davew,
Why are you waiting 4 weeks before bottling?

Thanks for all the ideas.

Picked up some wheat beers as well to see what I fancy. I might do the orange peel/coriander route!
