Polishing your homebrew

after you have added finings and cleared most of the sediment, is it possible to add something else to get the polishing effect. I doubt you can polish the beer like they do in breweries unless you have the specialised equipment, but when you add the brew to your barrel can you add anything else other than the 50 grams of sugar.

Lagers are generally filtered to give them their polish - as are bottled ales. Draught cask ale generally isn't and all that's used in that is Isinglass finings and possible finings adjunct (the additive formerly know as auxilliary finings).

What do the big boys use in the way of filters for lagers?

" Could you use one of those electric wine filters"?
