Yeast vit - off flavours

What off flavours can arise from pitching yeast vit when fermentation sticks? I used 2 teaspoons in my ginger beer and it produced excellent results fermentation wise but theres a very subtle saline taste to it. Could this be attributed to the yeast vit?

Thanks Daab - that would explain alot! Wish I'd read this before doing the same to my barley wine last night :oops: live and learn....
