Lager kit with ale yeast and visa versa

has anyone tried it? quite like the idea of pulling off a really nice light ale with say a brewers choice lager kit. which would be a nice way to convert some of my buddies to drinking propper beer 8)

I did a lager kit with ale yeast and dry hopped with EKG's and that turned out quite drinkable 8)

when you say drinkable....? lol

would you say it tasted like a lager or ale though?
