First attempt with wine kit

Post by seankeggers » Fri Oct 26, 2007 12:35 pm

I have read instructions for my wine kit and it says wine wont be ready untill it shows a reading of 996, but i cannot get the reading below 1006. It has been in the demijon for 10 days and probrably manages a bubble every hour. It is in a room with a constant temperature of 21 deg. Does any one have some advice for a first timer? Thanks

I'd wait a bit longer. The two wines we made a couple of months ago went on for about 16 days before we saw 0.994 on one and 0.990 on the other. (one was a kit, the other was Elderberries from the garden)

10 days isnt that long for wine ferment time ,if it's bubblin, leave it even if slow.dont think it will come down much now tho. When it does finally stop, campden tablet , and stabilise it,thats it.
