Hello, Only Me........!
1 can Wilko`s IPA kit, Bland as Bland can be.
So I think a change is in order.
500gr Med DME.
100gr Chinook boiled for 10mins, let it steep for 30mins.
Flippin` `eck mun! 100gr of dry leaf hops in a pan is awesome!
Was going to boil in 2Lts water but used 2.5Lts instead. (The hops had soaked up 2Lts of water
like BarnsleyBrewer and Gaz soaking up free beer in the Festivals)!
Yeast in at 22deg.
OG 1040
Dry Hop day 7 with 100gr Chinook.

Re: SKaSH
Now then WA........how would you describe the aroma compared to that BFA I sent you - or haven't you opened the damned thing yet?
I only ask as I bought a batch of 2017 chinook off here intending to do the same malt/yeast profile brew but substituting it for the Citra in the above. When I come to have a sniff of the hops I'm less than impressed - in fact, I'm wondering if they're oxidised. Having said that, only used them once in an Arrogant Bastard clone - which I don't like. Can't make my mind up whether to go for usual full 5 gallon or do a 3 gallon batch and waste the last scavenged PJ yeast sample I have.

I haven`t opened it yet. It still looks like soup.
I will open it next week when Me and Idris come back from Portugal.
Did you drink yours when it looked like soup?
What was it like tastewise?
The smell of the Hops from the bag was Good.
My son came over 4hrs after my brewing and he said as soon as he walked in the house,
`Mmmmmmmm, been brewing have you? BLM!`
The house was still smelling hoppy the next day.

Re: SKaSH
Not necessarily
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_soup
Mine was certainly cloudy but didn't affect the taste at all - now repeated the exact same recipe twice as my 'supping ale' although added transferring to secondary before the dry hop and chilling before adding a full pack of gelatine - every brew since doing this has been clear. I'm also now only cold storing after the 1st 2 weeks conditioning and avoiding the fridge altogether.
Back to the Chinook............I think the 10 minute post no-chill boil will determine whether I hang onto the remaining 800g I have in the freezer - still not convinced it's right

Re: SKaSH
Spooky...... just done the exact same including 2 x 50g Chinook and Dunelm beads.
I'm still a bit concerned about these hops although I've seen Rob Walker suggest on another thread that someone use a 'dank' hop to balance out another - and then suggests Chinook. Dank seems a fair description of the hops I've got - we'll see
