Right,
youngs harvest barley wine kits x2,
2 kgs brewing sugar.
2 yeast packets added.
toped up to 48 pints.

24 hrs in thick bubling brown crust on top,do I leave alone or do I skim?
Of all the kits I have done about 35+I have never had this happen before.
No nasty smells, smells great, just this bubbling brown crust on top.

I've just scrubbed my FV out after bottling some barley wine tonight. It seems to produce the most persistant of residue. I let it soak in warm water before gently scrubbing with a jeyes pad.

It had the colour and consistency of Marmite.
