BeerWorks Presidents IPA (First brew)

Post by Andyhop » Tue May 26, 2020 1:00 pm

Well my very first brew seemed to go well.
I wanted to brew a flavourful IPA and after lots of scratching my head and reading reviews I decided to do the BeerWorks Presidents IPA (supposedly very similar to Punk) The brew day went well with no misshaps. Put the fv in the airing cupboard and left it ( was a little warmer than I wanted at 26 but the rest of the house too cold) Dry hops added at day 5.

Gravity reading finally stabled at day 14 giving me a 6.2% abv. Bottled brew and left in airing cupboard for 7 days then into outside cupboard for 2 weeks. Chilled a bottle for 2 days and tasted. Was ok but had a very strong after taste which I can't really explain. So left for another 2 weeks and tried again. After taste not so bad but still not great.

So its now been another week and its started to taste like an enjoyable pint. I can taste the hops and its nice and smooth. (Doesn't taste anything like Punk so not sure if I have done anything wrong or the person who wrote the review was very very drunk Lol)

AH,
Good job on your first Brew! =D>
Put a few bottles somewhere cool for a few weeks.
You will drink your new beer quicker than you think! :D :D
Put four bottles away. Try one after two weeks, 4wks, 6wks, 8wks.
The difference to the taste will be amazing (hopefully).
Get another Brew on quick because your first brew will soon be gone.
Keep tasting notes of the bottles that you put away to know what you are aiming for,
ie, drink it quick or leave longer. I know it`s hard to put bottles away but you might
be pleasantly surprised at the end.
