none of my homebrew shops stock the kits in question, when i asked flaggon and cask my local brew shop they said they cant get hold of it, dont really want to order it online as it will turn out expensive with the p&p costs

Well pongob, the internet is the way to go. Delivery will be about 5 or 6 quid, you'll find you can get these kits 1 or 2 quid cheaper than they'd be in the F and C, from where you are a city rider will cost 2.70 to get you to Bulwell and back on the bus and tram. there's really not much in it.

Stock up on all sorts of goodies for the next 6 months by spending something like £60 and delivery will be free.

Didn't know there is one in Spondon. Whereabouts?

Its called Spondon Home Brew & Health Foods and is on Sitwell Street. There is a Somerfield over the road with a car park that you can park in.

If you use the find businesses section of google maps you will be able to find it easier.

May be worth giving them a ring first to see what they have in stock.

Think you'll find the Springhead kits are unavailable at the moment, I've been trying to get one also.

I've been told by 2 HBS that the brewery was flooded out and there not back in production yet :( .

The Milestone ones should be around though and sound like they will be good.

Cheers

I'm about to bottle Milestone IPA, obviously the proof is in the taste but I'm impressed with the quality of the kit, instructions and the way its fermented out really well without any assistance :D

It's probably worth sending them an email to be sure, they are listed in the quality kits section and also on the news page.

Hey there PB, why don't you take a day trip over to Newark and visit Vina the UK distributers of these two kit lines:

Just a thought

The two breweries are only a few miles up the road from Newark too.

...DaaB says that the Springhead kits are made from wort from the brewery, and the brewery was indeed flooded out during the summer, as were several villages round here - I'm not far from both breweries. I guess it does explain the shortage, as Russ said earlier. The pub trade was being serviced by contract brewers, but it's good to hear that things appear to be returning to normal.

Hello all. I've totally missed the arrival of these two new kit brands, although I've read up on their background now and the fact DaaB has added his authority to the instructions can't be bad! I've also read about the flooding and delays in shipping etc... so I have a few questions if you'll bear with me?

- Are Springhead kits REALLY available from Leyland etc... yet? the floods were a while ago now. Has anyone received one, or better still brewed one? I fancy knocking up the big blonde Roaring Meg... :)

- What's Milestone Crusader like? Not much description to go on up on their website or anywhere else really. No strengths or anything for any of their kits, for example.

- Finally I've read a few people's exploits with the IPA, Black Pearl and Lion's Pride but they were mainly concerned with the clarity of the instructions (creeps!) and the quality of the kit itself. Any feedback on the beers after brewing?

As you can tell I'm itching to hit the debit card :=P
