Grain Baskets at Mart's

Post by Mart's Brewery » Fri Jul 08, 2016 2:35 pm

Hi All,

Its been a busy year and I'm really excited to release our custom made grain baskets, sized to fit the Berland 33l brew kettles.

Last year I made my own all-in-one brew system from a Burco boiler (with some excellent pointers from contributors on this forum!) which works really well. By far the hardest part to source was a suitable stainless steel grain basket. In the end I used a chopped up stock pot and some welded brackets. Noting this difficulty I set to designing and manufacturing some baskets which are geared up for an all-in-one recirculating mash systems.

If anyone fancies building a 30l all-in-one or upgrading their BIAB equipment our grain baskets might be just the job.

Available either directly from me (send me a note with your email address) or via my ebay shop.

Cheers,
Jim

That looks really handy , i was more thinking of it as a giant hop spider , it would save me ages on cleaning my boiler out !

Hi Hydenexport,

They use the same size mesh as our hop spiders and keg filters so I'm sure it would work well as a hop basket too. You could probably make a lid with some SS mesh and a band clamp as well.

Cheers,
Jim

Marts Brewery are you still selling these? I am interested in one to replace the cloth BIAB i use. I certainly like the idea of the hooks to aloow the basket to drain. I use a 50l stainless pot which is 40cm diameter. I only do 10l batches so about 22l of water and about 3kg of grain. Would this basket be suitable?

Hi Chefgage,

I know we spoke over ebay but just for completeness.... I've sold out of these and I'm not planning to get any more in the near future. They would have been perfect for your application though! The feet were a nice addition that I designed in, I've since seen a couple of other designs but non with the feet and support bar as part of the kit.

All the best,
Jim
