Great bit of kit. I had one on trial for a couple of weeks and really liked it. 8)

One thing to watch out for though is that you don't get a boil over with the use of your vent lid. This will be more relevant if you go for a larger boil volume.

ps. also watch that the white ducting does not melt, it is not all of the same quality (as I found out  ). If you get a problem you can get a foil variety and a foil one with a black covering. Oh and you can add an extractor fan as well.

happy brewing :-D

Cheers Dadsale,

I watched for foaming and knocked down, pipe should be fine as its the one i used for BIAB, I had to come up with a vent as SWMBO was not impressed with my first AG, having to wipe all the walls and ceiling down after

If you can't do it outside could you do it next to a window with a fan blowing it out? Some water will drip back from the ducting and it may not be food safe.

I tried tried that but didn't work well enough. I have got a bend in the pipe as a drip trap. Not noticed any effects on 10 brews with the extract pipe.

Finished brewing now, and beer safely in FV. :D

I have been having issues with venting the steam from the boil for a while now. Like your set up I have dusting on my boiler lit directed out of the kitchen window. Problem is with the lid fitted I always got boil over, really annoying as am trying to increase the amount of wort in the boiler.

So the latest solution to put an extract fan on the ducting and have the lid raised slightly as in the pics below:

This seems to work fine although I now have to have both elements running to achieve a vigorous boil, next step is to insulate the boiler to try and only use one.

Yes you do get some of the condensate running back into the boiler but in my eyes this will be sanitised in the boil and by the vented steam.

Hope this helps :)

Cheers Dads, will look into that idea, never had a boil up with the buffalo but it did start with the grainfather, I will put the lid on later next time. the boil was fine with the lid on though and i started with 28L :D

Chiller is awesome. had to turn the water off with mine as it was too efficient. Wish they sold them as an accessory...
