Anyway, sparging....

I don't bother. Still get around 70-75% efficiency. Not everyone is happy with that but I'd rather not bother with additional equipment for my one pot brewing system.

Each person has their own preference though.

Do you not end up with a small volume into your fermenter if you do not sparge?

No. Perhaps I'm unconventional but I use beersmith and work out my recipe as I would do with standard 3V brewing. Go to the tab where it shows total liquor volume which factors in grain absorption, etc. Fill the BM to that volume and then everything's in there.

Matt.....what figure do you use for grain absorbtion??
For my 3V system I've been using 1l/kg, but I think this probably needs adjusting.

I use 0.7 l/kg. Seems to be fairly standard.

I can't remember if I actually adjusted mine but on the Braumeisters forum I do remember someone posting up a Beersmith profile which had a reduced grain absorption compared to the default Braumeister Beersmith profile.
