Good spot, reasonable price if it ever needs replacing.
I can't see me recirculating boiling wort yet though, maybe when I get around to making a hopback type thing. I'd need to pre filter though as the inlet to the pump has no filter. Did think about using the grain basket as a hop spider but the general consensus seems to be that it would affect the boil too much
Cheers Tom
then you can recirculate the boil back through the grain basket 'hop spider'.. its the solution i employed to counter the containing bag i used from floating on top of the boil.. it also ensures all the liquor flows hot over the hop mass too
ist update for months n months..

Got a brew on as I type
Boiling away nicely (so that's what a good rolling boil looks like). Up to the boil on 2500w then turned it down to 1900 to maintain the boil.
One question about electric boiler things in general. Does it harm the contacts or the element to have it cycling on and off every couple of seconds?
Cheers. Tom

Oh and the cheap foil lined mat is doing the job nicely. How long it lasts is another thing

Cycling will not harm the elements, but the wiring/contacts and switching might not like it as they are much lighter in comparison to the load.
I would imagine these are set up with relays etc to take care of that tho..

Anyone know of an easy way to remove the brown (presumably sugars from the malt) scorch marks from the bottom of the pot? Just around where the concealed element is. Got some of it off but don't want to scrub too hard and scratch the shiny
Cheers. Tom

Little bit of citric acid and boiling water or rub a cut lemon on it.

Happy camper
The Mrs forgot to get a lemon so I've just had a go with some vinegar. Had to leave it to soak but it all came off without a problem
Thanks for the help
Cheers. Tom

Very tempted with one of these contraptions. A few questions for any owners:
- Is the pump strong enough to create a whirlpool whilst chilling? Has anyone chilled in this whilst recirculating hot - wort back onto your immersion chiller?
- Is there any facility for automatic ramping up of temperature when step mashing?
- Any facility for automatically turning on in the morning?
- Anyone got a copy of the manual if one exists digitally?
- How are you dealing with steam extraction?
