Pump use on boil.

Post by Midlife » Tue Mar 13, 2018 11:25 pm

Hello,

Does anyone circulate the the wort whilst boiling on the grainfather? I figure the flow over the heat plate would stop any burning, also you could let the flow back in into to hop spider?

I assume the pump is good for continuous working at 100C?

I run the pump to circulate through and sanitise the CFC for the last 10 - 15 mins of the boil, I use one of my old BIAB bags as a hop spider. There is plenty of room for the hops to float about and I usual drop the return hose into the bag.

I would imagine it is not a major issue as they suggest running boiling wort through the cfc in order to make it sterile, plus you are then pumping pretty much boiling wort through it to get it to the FV.
