Up to Date Wine Making Books.

Post by minesapint » Sun Jul 27, 2014 9:09 pm

Not sure if this should be under "Brewing Books" :?:

As with my beer making, I used to do winemaking back in the seventies.
It all stopped a long time ago and then a few years ago I came back to brewing beer.
The differences in brewing methods and results, then and now, are worlds apart.

I have a couple of winemaking books from 1975 and 1969.
I wonder if winemaking methods and results have changed as much as beer brewing has?

Could anybody recommend a decent up to date home wine making book.
The emphasis being on modern techniques and recipes.

Cheers All.

ps I should have mentioned that making wine from raw ingredients , fruit, vegetables etc is is my aim, just like my all grain brewing.
I bet that tinned wine kits have improved over the years but its wine from the basics that I am after.

I don't know of any, but then I haven't looked.
But for 'country wine', ie veg, foraged fruit, etc, I doubt much has changed.
Except people take CJJB's sugar quantities with a huge pinch of salt!

But if there are any good books, I'd like to hear about them too!

Have you had a look at 'Booze for Free'? I've got a copy but yet to make anything other than elderflower champagne from it!

It is indeed Mark. I see you're just along the road - I'm near Newmachar!
