Can anyone recommend a Rioja kit that tastes like the real deal?
I love a mid price shop bought Rioja, eg, the Faustino's especially no. 1, campo vieja etc...
Which kits would be on or approaching a par with these?
Rioja recommendation please?
Re: Rioja recommendation please?
I've never made a wine kit, but I would be surprised if the Rioja style was possible to really make at home as one of the key characteristics is oak ageing? I would love to be told I'm wrong though as it is also my wine of choice!

You get oak chips with some of them to replicate it
I've only done a couple of the California Connoisseur kits a couple of years ago, which I think might not be available anymore - they were very good though, all grape juice kits with everything needed to clear it and stabilise it. I reckoned they were equal to £6-8 bottles of wine, certainly better than complete plonk, yet much cheaper than plonk
You can get 1 gallon kits to try before you try a bigger one
If I was to do them again I'd stay clear of any that you have to add sugar too - that's just based on beer making since then
