Sloe Wine

Post by Brewbitz » Tue Sep 23, 2014 1:30 pm

Hi all.

Want to make something else rather than sloe gin / vodka???

Then try sloe wine. It is amazing.

Popped open a bottle last night that I found as I was rummaging around for some batteries - 3 years old - and its amazing. The best red wine I think I've EVER had!!!

So, I'm off out tomorrow to the hedgerows where I picked them for last nights bottle to pick some more. They are perfectly ripe at the mo, and I don't think there is going to be a frost in the near future, so I'll give them a quick blast in the freezer.

Here's a link to the recipe that I used - hope you enjoy too...

Brewbitz, that sounds awesome. Great work, and great find!

Have you ever used any of your sloes in a dark ale?

I was bottling some of last year's brews tonight and the sloe which was started in September and unfortunately in a brown demijohn (since the last racking) so I had been unable to see it is still cloudy.

We have loads of blackthorn in our hedges, so I shall definitely give this a go next year.
