Looking good! I thought you'd fallen over due to the fumes from the high alcohol yeast....

My 2014 carrot is the best carrot I've done, but... recent computer crash means I no longer have the exact recipe!

Been a long time since I made wine from fruit
So when the bubbles all stop in air lock is wine ready or perhaps it just grinds to a halt?

Trying to syphon the carrot wine into a Demi was a job in a half as the sultanas kept going up the tube, managed it though
Anyone else got a better idea for when I make similar wine?

I insert a funnel into the demijohn, balance a sieve on top and line the sieve with a mesh bag. It takes a while to strain through but it will remove the bits.

That's always the way! The best rhubarb wine I made was also one of my first wines. It was really smooth and full of flavour. I didn't bother keeping recipes then but have a vague recollection of adding a small tin of white grape concentrate. I've tried adding it to another batch since, but it's never turned out the same :(

Like MarkA, when transferring from bucket to demi I often just use a sieve over a funnel. I might dip the sieve into sanitiser first (and rinse, obv), or I might just pour boiling water over it.
I don't bother with the mesh bag, it'll get racked again sometime and any little bits get dumped then.

For pulpy stuff lke strawberries, I use a jam straining kit from Lakeland: nylong bag suspended from wire frame, into a saucepan then into demi

I do have a muslin bag but could not use it at the time due to family member washing it with lenor
I have a tiny teapot plastic strainer so that would not have worked, I will pick up another bag and bigger strainer next shopping trip

Bottled the Carrot wine
Mind you I have no sooner bottled and hubby opens
Carrot wine has a taste similar to apple cider and you can feel strong alcohol as it's going down similar to spirit effects lol :D
I have now stored rest of carrot wine bottles away to mature more, and so a glass of that at Christmas would knock you out :)
Now making loads more

Glad it's going down well! It will definitely benefit from a good long maturation. The last batch I made was left for nearly two years in the bottle and mellowed nicely :)

My friends did wonder whether we were serving them a glass of pee as the colour was similar :D
I will make more after our holidays

Why did I read this thread? #-o
I don`t even like wine.
So I popped up Asda to get all the stuff.
Carrot wine made today! =D>
OG 1086.
Hopefully it will turn into a nice little 11.5%er.

Touchstone,
Google `Carrot Wine recipe` for your sugar amounts.
Check that the carrot juice you got has no sulphites or sulphates in it.
