Carrot wine is on my ever lengthening list of things to brew. Would you care to share your recipe?

Cheers, looks like a good recipe. Once I have bottled my banana wine I will have some available demi-Johns.

Have you made banana wine before?
I made it years ago but had to ditch it as it smelt terrible, worst thing is I hate bananas
So it would be interesting on the taste of it once it is ready :D

I have been making it for the past couple of years now. One of the lads on here got me started, I believe that it was Manx Guy. I bottle it in old champagne bottles as I like it with the fizz.

I've made carrot wine a few times, it's definitely one of my favourites :)

What is the taste like from Carrot wine and is it as potent as they say?

It has a distinctive taste, it's hard to explain exactly what it tastes of, but it's not like eating a carrot. I use wheat when I make it, which gives it a stronger flavour and, with some batches, can have a whisky-like flavour. Lighter versions (with no wheat) have tasted a bit like white port, especially if slightly sweet. Personally, I think this wine does taste better being slightly sweet rather than dry. It also benefits from maturing for a year or more.

As for how potent it is, I guess that is all down to how much sugar is used and fermented but it does taste as though it is very strong, particularly when made with wheat. Some recipes call it 'Carrot Whisky' because of the full-body and flavour.

Give it a go! :-)

I use wheat from a health food shop (as opposed to crushed wheat from a HB supplier) and soak it overnight in water, drain, and run it through a mincer at the same time as the raisins. To be honest, it's nice with or without wheat :-)

I will try it out :D
Just bottled 28 bottles of the dry wine which looks a Sauternes wine colour and my goodness it's dry alright.
Had my daughter help to hold the syphon and she moved it out few times so had a gob of the wine, thank goodness for painkillers.
I will be honest in saying a half bottle was kicked over, and confused why it did not calculate to exactly 30 bottles.

I can also say my kitchen did smell like a sweet alcoholic urine smell, not from any person though :D

I do carrot once a year. Is it potent? Somebody asked. Well it depends how much sugar you put in!
Recent computer crash disappeared manybif my recipes but I'll check tomorrow.

I've done banana once, made it stupidly strong in case I didn't like it. But everybody likes it. Will definitely do it again, probably a gallon at normal wine strength and another at 20 again, kinda suits it.
