i recently decided to come out of my beermaking comfort zone and decided to have a go at the wilkos 30 bottle shiraz blush kit. In all the time i have made beer i have never used fining's but i noticed that this kit comes with some.Do i have to use it? I don't have a filter so will this mean if i don't use it i will end up with quite a bit of sediment etc? Any help/advice would be much appreciated thanks

everything will clear given time, beer just like wine. if you want to bottle direct from the fermenter after 2 weeks then i can see where they might be useful, but given wine is best for aging a while anyways, i'm never in such a rush to make me wanna go throw bits of crab in my wine..

I agree with Jaroporter, I've never used finings in wine either. Once the primary fermentation has finished, I rack the wine into another fermenter and let it clear in a cool place. It will probably need racking again after a month or so, depending on how much sediment drops out.
