Can anyone explain why with all fruits I get a small amount of what appears to be grit in the bottom of my brew bucket when I first filter the juice through the muslin into my demijohn,
It doesn't seam to matter which fruit I use it even happen with oranges
I tend to prepare my fruit then add half the water with all the sugar and let that break down the fruit for a few days top up the water, add yeast etc, leave it in the bucket till the the most active part of the fermentation has finished, then filter it, and put it in the demijohn.
What when I find about a half teaspoon of black 'grit' left in the bottom of the bucket.
