Dabinett cider

Post by JamesF » Sat Oct 31, 2015 5:20 pm

The children and I collected nine sacks of Dabinett apples today. I reckon somewhere around 180kg of fruit. Hopefully we'll have time tomorrow to press them and get the juice in the fermenter. Our initial guesstimate is that we should get in the region of 120 litres of juice.

Failed to get the apples pressed today as the children were keen to join in but both discovered they had rather more to do than expected before going back to school tomorrow. So the plan has changed and we'll hopefully get this done next Saturday, which should actually give me a bit more time to get prepared so I shan't complain.

Instead I toured the hedgerows and picked just over 6lbs of sloes, so that's another thing to do now :)
