I brewed the following recipe recently and transferred it to the secondary fermenter last night. I had a quick sample and was impressed with the flavour of the Styrian's but the colour was paler than the real thing (happened to have a bottle cracked open at the same time).
I was wondering, if I did this one again and added a small amount of crystal malt (say 300g)
1. would that be enough to add a bit of extra colour?
2. would it adversely effect the body and flavour?
The original recipe came from Norm's Real Ale Almanac conversion and I hopped it as per Styrian Stunner;
3355gm pale malt
840gm wheat malt
Mash: 90min @ 65deg
Boil: 90min
80g styrian goldings 3.3% 90 mins
16g styrian goldings 3.3% 15 mins
As a novice brewer, any thoughts and comments would be appreciated.
