Boys,

A buddy of mine from Manchester asked if I knew anything about Chester's Mild. Ive never had it but am looking for some input. Anyone know of a recipe or can help me put one together??

There's a recipe in Graham Wheeler's BYORAAH book. Since it's out of print and Graham seems OK with us posting snippets I'll reproduce it here.

DESCRIPTION - A dark malty, mild from Chester's brewery in Sheffield, a subsidiary of Whitbread. Thin, slightly astringent, with a dry finish and chocolate notes.

OG 1.032 3.5% ABV

Pale Malt 2500g
Chocolate Malt 175g
Torrefied Wheat 530g

Invert Cane Sugar 350g

Target hops to 23IBU one addition at start of boil

No yeast is given but seeing as it's a whitbread beer, S-04 might be a good choice.
