Got this from Home Wine Making by B.C.A Turner .

1 kg granulated sugar (2 lb)
550 ml water (1 pint)
1 tsp citric acid

All it says to do is boil it all together.

1lt (2pints) = 2lbs sugar.

I read somewhere that Lyles Golden Syrup is invert sugar. I've just done a brew using a recipe I know is gorgeous. Instead of using Spraymalt I tipped in a tin (454g) of Golden Syrup. Made 40 bottles and they're all behaving themselves in the garage :=P
