Doing the Double Brewday

Post by stevezx7r » Tue Apr 29, 2008 4:29 pm

Tomorrow (Wed) I'm intending to make two beers.

Haven't decided on an exact recipe for either but may decide on two similar, medium alcohol APA stylee.

I picked up 100g Aurora as it was sooo nice and I still have an "amount" (need to check) of BX and I think cascade or similar, maybe some EKG too. I also got a pack of s04 and s05 so I could compare the two yeasts. I know what the 04 is like to a "standard" English ale so I figure if i'm making some sort of APA it would make sense to use and American yeast to go for that clean/neutral taste.

I have thought about making a 100% aurora but that means I won't have as good a comparison between the two, if I make two similar.

Choices, choices.

EDIT - I've done a rough check and I have -

100g Aurora
30g Fuggles
75g BX
50g EKG

So, at a guess I could split the EKG's for bittering between the two and make an IPA and an APA - one with EKG and Aurora (last 15 mins) and the s05, the other with EKG and BX/Fuggles (last 15 mins)and the s04.

Would be interesting anyway.
