My Landlord Recipe

Post by Whorst » Sun Jul 13, 2008 12:58 am

I just ordered the hops.

Styrians-3.5% AA%
Fuggles-4.0% AA%
East Kent Goldings-4.8%

4.08 kg Golden Promise
.06 kg Chocolate Malt-Added during sparge for color.
28.35g Styrians at 45 minutes
28.35g Fuggles at 45
9.92g EKG at 15
7.09g Styrians at flame out
Yeast: WLP005 British Ale

I will probably add more Styrians at flame out. I got more of the 1.9%.
I do 60 minute boils with hop additions usually starting at 45 minutes.
This recipe gives me 35 IBU's with an O.G. of 1.041.

Anything I can do to improve this recipe?? Thoughts?

Cheers, Whorst

G'day Whorst. I'm certainly no expert on this excellent ale as far as recipes go, but the one's I've seen opt for 55 Lovibond crystal rather than pale choc malt. Are you using pale choc because the GP does the rest of the job - malt flavour wise and you're using the pale choc just for colour?

I've also seen up to 350g of Torrified Wheat used in this style as well...

Cheers,
TL

Yeah, the chocolate malt is purely for color.

I'll give it a go. I will probably dump a ton of the 1.9% AA at flame out. I'll let you all know how it goes. I'm confused. By caramel, do you mean caramel malt? Something around 55L?
