I'm considering trying Safbrew S-33.
Recipe is with 60% mash efficiency.
Whorst's Old World Classic Mild
Hmm
quite high levels in crystal, and no sugar to thin things down.
I would think to my mind this would turn out more porterish(if there is such a word
). But then again Porter and mild it is alluded have a shared history
I have just racked my own mild into a barrel and it quaffs well, as it 40C in the shade at the moment. Your looking for malty thirst quencher as you appear to be going for a more modern(after 1916) dark mild, as opposed to a Malty beast like a Sarah Hughs with a high OG(1,060 or more).
If you do look to include sugar choose well as it should add a flavour note too
No point have a ingredient and and not bringing any flavour I say.
