Post by SiHoltye » Fri Sep 05, 2008 7:40 pm

Hello,

Brewing on Sunday and want a crisp 4%er. Had in some S-23 I've not used before and plenty of Challenger, so ordered 5kg's of lager malt to try the following fermenting at 19°C. Any comments on how it may turn out, perhaps a crisp spicy ale? Prolly a bit summery for this weather but you've gotta keep your chin up eh :)

An all Challenger brew - tasty 8)

Weather is total carp isn't it? While it's a good excuse to stay inside and brew, it's b*gger all use for much else (except decorating - and so I'd quite like it to stop raining or SWMBO will have me sanding down for ever more...)

Kegged this tonight after 2½ days with Aux and dropped to 5°C. Kegged with IG at 1.006 so 3.6% I think it'll taste very light and in the lager drinkers' range. Dunno why I bothered

Boring! Can't wait 'til I've finished this keg. The beer is made well enough it's just not to my taste. The wife likes it though so a few brownie points accumulated there.

Why not bottle some (most) of it out of the keg for your wife thus freeing up the keg for another "more interesting" brew ??

Am drinking a bottle of this tonight and it's perhaps better than the cask. It has slightly more about it perhaps due to being indoors and warmer than in the kegerator.
Tastes like a good pint of Carling. That may be a little too harsh though
