Im looking at brewing an Imperial IPA either tomorrow or Monday, but have just gone to the hop fridge to find out I have less Cascade and Amarillo than I thought I had. So.....a few hop substitutions and here's my plan so far. Any thoughts on the hop schedule? I will get some more Amarillo and Cascade next week and will probably dry hop in secondary with 25g of each. Do you think the Aurora and Northdown will clash with the Amarillo and Cascade? ( I imagine the Aurora won't as it's just there for bittering, and the Northdowns aren't normally too floral.)

Hop Dog Imperial IPA - thoughts?
Re: Hop Dog Imperial IPA - thoughts?
Impressive looks good and im going to add that to my brew schedule.. Hope you dont mind

Re: Hop Dog Imperial IPA - thoughts?
No problem at all - it makes me happy if someone thinks enough of one of my recipes to try the same thing themselves!
I actually brewed this on Monday - so if you're interested, nip over to the Brewdays forum and have a look at the thread.
It's still fermenting - down to just over 1020 now, and it smells absolutely fantastic. I had to taste the hydro sample this morning and almost went back for another one! Tastes gorgeous and smells like lemonsherbetgrapefruitade if there was such a thing...

Re: Hop Dog Imperial IPA - thoughts?
Interesting, have you used the Northwest ale yeast before?
Re: Hop Dog Imperial IPA - thoughts?
Nope - never tried it (I've only been brewing since June), but I wanted to do a northwest style strong and ultra hoppy IPA along the lines of the Mikkeller Stateside IPA - and this seemed to fit the bill.
I must admit, I was in the MoreBeer store in California last week on the way to the airport, in a bit of a rush and just picked up a few liquid yeasts almost at random.....so we'll see how it goes. looks good so far - big fluffy clean looking krausen that's been up to the lid of my FV for the last couple of days.
