Strong Bitter

A nice ale for those cooler nights of autumn.

23 Litres transposed from 10 US Gallons

5 Kg pale malt
275g Biscuit malt
425g Crystal 55L
275g Carafoam

35g Challenger @ 60 minutes
35g WGV @ 30 minutes
17g WGV @ 5 minutes

Mash 60 minutes @ 67C

WhiteLabs WLP028 Edinburgh Ale yeast

I think carafoam is just another proprietary name for carapils, isn't it?

Never heard of CARAFOAM, is it supposed to aid head formation and retention?
CaraFoam is Weyermann's version of a dextrine malt or CaraPils. I think it adds a nice texture to the body and it does help with foam stability/head retention. Biscuit malt is so very tasty and aromatic. I tossed it in this recipe at the last minute and definitely liked the results.

:lol: Thanks, mysterio. I tried the Edinburgh yeast at the recommendation of my brew shop owner. It is a terrific strain and makes a wonderful ESB.
