Hi folks,
Seeing as the cold weather seems to be continuing I'd like to give a lager a go. Anyone got any recipes similar to Staropramen premium lager.
"Bohemian barley and Zatec (Saatzer) hops have been used"
So I presume Saaz hops, but what IBU's, what grain and what yeast?
Cheers,
Paul
Staropramen
Re: Staropramen
Probably Bohemian Pilsner malt for the grain. Maybe 30-40 IBU? ISTR it's fairly bitter for a lager.

Re: Staropramen
Through in 10% Munich Malt to replace the decoction mash
IIRC Staropramen is around 1.050 (:-k )
Probably something like
4250g Pilsner malt
500g Munich
Mash for 90 Minutes with soft Liquor, sparge and boil with
90g Saaz (3.5%AA - 90 Minutes)
20g Saaz (3.5%AA 15 Minutes )
15g Saaz ( 70C Steep)
Yeast wise
Wyeast 2124, Dry Saflager W34/70
I wouldn't say its a clone of Staropramen, but It is certainly an archetypal Bohemian Pilsner
