Styrian Stunner -ish

Post by Stringy Bob » Fri Apr 03, 2009 9:27 am

I was looking to brew a Styrian Stunner tonight. I am doing a 38lt batch but I only have about 70g of Styrian Goldings, so I am looking at using another hops for bittering. I have a choice of First Gold, Willamette, Fuggles or Goldings. Any ideas which would work best?

cheers

Thanks for that Vacant - looks very useful 8) Might try the Willamette as Ive got a big bag of it from the local micro which Ive not used yet. If all goes well I'll even try to take a few pics and post my first Brewday

Does this look about right? (I just need to double check the AA of the hops I have - I have just used the figures in Grahams Beer Engine for now). Is it worth adding some Torrified wheat for head retention?

Pale Malt 7860 grams

Willamette 4.7% 90 mins 80 grams
Styrian Goldings 4.5% 30 mins 40 grams
Styrian Goldings 4.5% 0 mins 20 grams

Final Volume: 38 Litres
Original Gravity: 1.047
Final Gravity: 1.011
Alcohol Content: 4.6% ABV
Total Liquor: 54.6 Litres
Mash Liquor: 19.7 Litres
Bitterness: 34 EBU
Colour: 8 EBC
