Porter-ish

I knocked out this brew on Wednesday using up some specialty malts I had laying around.

Not too sure of the style but guess it will be porter-ish?

5g brew length
4kg Marris Otter
350g Caramunich
350g Carafa Special 1

Hopped to 30 IBU using Goldings at 90mins 30 mins and 15 mins

I ended up with 25L at OG 1046

The fermenter is throwing out some lovely smells and the wort is deliciously dark

I'll update on taste when it moves to the barrel.

After tasting a sample from gravity testing I'd be tempted to classify this as more of a "Super Mild" than "Porter-ish"

Gravity is at 1012 after 3 days

You could have a new beer style there

I was thinking the same - the other new style description I had in mind was "Not quite Stout" a bit like "I can't believe it's not butter"

Add a bit of brown and/or chocolate and you're probably getting over into porter territory Like the sound of super-mild

Yes - very very nice.

I'm planning to give it a fairly comprehensive road test this weekend with a mate
